I want you to know how thankful I am to you for being my personal physician for the past 25 years. You walked with me through a lot of very difficult times over those years. However, I’m especially grateful for the last 6 years. During that time, I went to you for advice and treatment for insomnia, decreased libido, mood swings, weight gain, all of which I knew wasn't normal for me. When I asked about "the change" you told me that I was too young to be menopausal. That was flattering, for about a minute, until I thought to myself, “then what exactly is wrong with me? What could be causing these changes?” Nothing was drastically different in my life. I exercised regularly. I was eating better than I had eaten in my 20's and 30's. And as for my sex drive, I loved and desired my husband more and more every day so none of that made sense to me.
Your advice about these things varied with each visit; "Try to exercise more because your metabolism is slowing", "You are just trying to juggle too much", "Parenting teens is difficult", "Let’s try testosterone cream". The real eye opener was when you wrote me a prescription for antidepressants. I thought to myself, Really? I'm not depressed! I refused to accept that diagnosis and, in fact, threw the prescription in the trash. I was not willing to take a prescription drug for an issue that wasn’t there. Experimenting with my brain chemistry was not an option! In my mind, there had to be a better way. Something that would be gentle on my body and provide a real solution without drugs and hormones.
When I had my first hot flash a few years later, it all started making sense to me. At that point, I decided to go to work. I began researching and studying everything I could find about menopause. What I discovered was that each of those symptoms you had attributed to stress, anxiety, parenting teens and slowed metabolism were, in fact, caused by natural imbalances in our hormones from the transition leading to menopause (perimenopause).
Through blogs and other websites, I began to see so many other women who had similar experiences with their physicians. What I discovered was a general disregard for how most women feel and the symptoms we experience prior to the first hot flash.
It seemed to me that the symptoms we experience were simply being written off as inconvenient circumstances of our environments, when, in fact, they are the result of a specific phase of our lives. A phase of life that every woman in the world will experience to some extent.
I relentlessly searched for natural and effective remedies to help me deal with the symptoms you had previously brushed off as signs of stress and anxiety.
With a history of cancer in my family, Hormone Replacement Therapy was not an option for me. What I wanted was a comprehensive, total-body system that addresses the entire body, not just part of it. I made the decision to contact some of the top formulators in the world for skin care products and supplements and share my ideas with them. The results of those discussions have now become the Smooth Transition Menopause Relief System, the only total-body, drug-free system available that addresses the entire body.
Doctor, you are very necessary for so many of my health care needs, but when it comes to menopause, I'm taking charge. Because of you, I have stepped up and taken responsibility for making the decisions that are best for my body. Through my research, I discovered that there are safe and effective ways for me to naturally manage my menopause symptoms without hormones or drugs. I've also learned that in order to holistically manage these symptoms, I needed to take an inside outside approach that addresses my whole body, not just part of it. Since I've been doing so, all the symptoms I was experiencing have subsided substantially.
Thank you again for forcing me to take responsibility for me.
Very truly yours,
